80,000 square feet of meeting space with 29,000 square foot grand ballroom and 17 meeting rooms
We recently completed the fourth largest construction project in Arizona, the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix hotel. With a construction cost of $200 Million and total project cost of $350 Million, this project was designed and constructed to re-shape the Downtown Phoenix skyline. The 31-story, 1000-room convention center hotel was being completed through a partnership with Miami based Arquitectonica and is the tallest hotel in Arizona.
The project broke ground in March 2006 and opened in October 2008. The L-shaped, four-acre site, located across from the new Phoenix Convention Center, is very complex. The project floorplate is almost property line to property line and interfaces with an existing corporate office building, only 25-feet away. The design has one tower, flanked by a podium on both the north and south sides. The large porte-cochere is set-back from the street and is beneath the tower, creating a pedestrian focus on the ground floor. Ground floor retail, cafes, and a restaurant in the hotel lobby all encourage this mingling and activity of an urban development. Project received the 2009 RED Award for Best Hospitality from AZ|RE Magazine and the 2009 Best Hospitality Project by Southwest Contractor Magazine.
