University of Minnesota
Northrop Auditorium
Minneapolis, MN
completed in 2008
$20 million renovation
Heavy use, deferred maintenance, and age had taken their toll on the centerpiece of the University of Minnesota campus. Our team worked with the University to completely renovate the exterior envelope and address life-safety concerns. The specific scope of work included tuckpointing exterior brick and stone; replacing the existing flat roofs and roof drainage systems; installing emergency back-up power, lighting, safety railings and lighting in balcony, replacing all theatre and exterior doors; recreating exterior plaza lights; and replacing all windows. The exterior renovation has preserved this gem of Minnesota architecture and allowed it to remain a safe, comfortable and functional venue.
